I love the end of any year when Cabala’s, Bass Pro and every other fishing shop starts sending out their new fishing gear catalogue’s. I hunker down in a remote area away from the family so I can find the new gear that will put more fish in the boat. I hope others feel the same way because when you can get the jump on your fishing buddy it’s another notch in your belt. However, just so you know each company will probably carry many of the same fishing lures, soft baits, hard baits and such so beware. Cabela’s and Bass Pro carry their own name brand so you can always expect to see new fishing gear. Be sure to check out the Alabama Rigs that are sweeping across the nation.

I can tell you that there is one person who I fish with a lot and he always has the latest gizmo that will catch fish. I normally wait till his bass fishing curcuit slows down and then we go out. Every year I learn of a few more products that put big bass in the boat.

Who Has New Fishing Gear
There is no way they will send out a catalogue without promoting their new products. When you visit the site you will be show a bunch of new products in all fishing categories. I always head straight for the rods and reels to see what is new and how much better is the new product versus the old product. You will find new store brand rods in all categories but like everyone else they are heavily into bass and walleye. Bass Pro Shops also has a ton of new products and many of them are their own brand names. The fishing reels they have upgraded are the extreme and pro qualifier in both spinning and level winds. You will find more plastic baits at Bass Pro than just about anywhere but most of them will be their own brand name.
There is debate in our neck of the woods as to who is cheaper, Cabela’s or Bass Pro. We finally settled that it all boils down to shipping. Lucky for us, we will see a Cabela’s within 50 miles of our home in the next year. Currently we need to drive over 3 hours to visit their stores so you can imagine we are really excited.
Not to be outdone Land Big Fish also has an extensive new fishing gear page. Like the other two they offer a great selection of rods and reels but they really have done a good job of showing you the new plastics, crankbaits and other lures that will make your next fishing trip a successful one.
Over at TackleTour.Com they have a very good review of the SPRO BBZ-1 which is a 2.5″ plastic swim bait that only weighs in at 1/4 oz. It is a baby shad jointed swim bait that offers some very realistic scales in a variety of colors. One thing I did notice that goes against our line of thinking or should I say our idea of what a good bait needs to have is the orange belly. We have had a great deal of success with any crankbait or swimbait that offers a orange or red belly.
Over at BDOutdoors.com they have a new review of the Lowrance fish finders that might peak your interest. Just reading this information makes me want to head out and get a new fishing finder, the only thing holding me back is the other half. LOL
